REQUIRED REGISTRATION DOCUMENTS
In order to be able to participate in cadet activities with insurance coverage, the following documents must be provided to 686 Dorval-Lachine Squadron:

1. Form CF1158 Application for Membership;
2. A photocopy of the applicant’s Medicare card;
3. A photocopy of one of the following documents:

  • government issued Birth Certificate; or
  • Canadian Citizenship Card (both sides); or
  • Canadian passport.

Thursday (September to May)
Time: 18h30-21h00 (6:30-9pm)
Where: Centre Albert-Gariépy, 800 Sherbrooke, Lachine  H8S 1H2


ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
To be eligible to join 686 Squadron, the applicant must:

  • be not less than 12 years old but not have attained his/her 19th birthday;
  • not belong to another cadet corps or squadron;
  • be a Canadian citizen or a lawful resident of Canada;
  • be medically, physically and psychologically fit to join Cadets and participate in related training and/or activities;
  • be of good moral character;
  • be acceptable to the Commanding Officer of 686 Squadron.


COST
There is no membership fee or annual dues - only your effort is needed. The training is provided free of charge and the uniform is lent for the duration of membership. However, cadets, with the support of their parents/guardians, are required to participate in fundraising activities as determined by an annual fundraising agreement. 

This enables the squadron to provide activities not paid or funded for by the Canadian Forces, or the Air Cadet League, such as awards, financing of flying activities, procurement of Band instruments and equipment, procurement of training aids and much more. A fundraising agreement is drafted each training year. 


PARTICIPATION EXPECTATIONS
A cadet is expected:

  • to participate in training activities and follow regulations, orders and instructions;
  • to take good care of all items of clothing and equipment issued to him/her, to safeguard them and to return them when requested to do so; and
  • to conduct himself/herself in a manner respectful of others.


A cadet:

  • may end his/her membership with the squadron at any time;
  • may be expelled from the squadron if he/she commits a serious breach of discipline;
  • is no longer eligible to be a member of the squadron when he/she turns 19; and
  • is not member of the Canadian Forces and is not forced to join that organization once the cadet membership is terminated.
